This was a short weekend; I came in Friday afternoon. Big Daddy spent the week with Denise and she put him to work...a good example for those of you who may want to come for an extended stay. She tasked him with painting the newly constructed pantry shelves...behold! It is unfortunate that they turned out so nicely...orders have been placed for a similar treatment in the closets.
...and had him hang a hummingbird feeder (he got two actually) and choose a birdfeeder for the yard. I'll set up the birdfeeder on another weekend; it needs to be where we can watch them from the porch.
It wasn't too long before it produced another addition to "Critters from the Porch"
Big Daddy also brought his turkey calls in hopes of luring the resident flock in for a closer look. I got a good chuckle out of that, but he got the last laugh.
Also it is the time of year when the squirrels get active. They're currently tearing up the pecan crop - I counted 5 in the pecan on the south side of the house Saturday evening. It seems like we get a couple in the backyard tree every morning. I even got a picture of one of the rascals to complete a busy "Critters" entry for this week. (mostly dang cat squirrels around the house, but I know there has to be some fox squirrels in the woods).
Anyway, earlier in the week a strong thunderstorm moved through and took out 1/2 of a fence line sick-more tree. I really do not like these trees...this one did not even have any signs of rot. It pretty much missed the azaleas below, but it landed on the fence and took out some understory trees. Anyway, a mess that I've started sawing and burning (BTW, sick-mores are incredibly stinky when they burn, so they do not even have that redeeming quality).
Well, I'll finish this up with this weeks' "Tibo's TrailCam Highlights". I did get a daylight snap of a dear this week, so that was exciting. I also picked up a shot of an elusive fox squirrel. Mostly coons at night, and I repositioned the camera a little closer in hopes of getting some better night shots. Turkeys and crows are regular visitors.
And here's my dear (exhibiting good fashion sense to don boots after Labor Day).
