Easter doin's

Not a lot of news, but I've got a few pictures so in an effort to keep you in the know, here goes...

Scott, Ashley and Aubrey came on Easter Sunday to help us kill the goodies in the Easter basket; my waistline (and blood sugar) was very appreciative.  Ashley did provide some very nicely decorated eggs...much more intricate than the single-color Paas jobs we did.

That was not the only color on display  over the weekend.  The irises were nicely contributive to the holiday weekend.

The azaleas were still doing their thing...

...as was the spiderwort,

and the wild rose in the deer feeder part of the pasture.  We may dig them up and put them near the front entrance where they are free to climb...just what we need, another shovel intensive project!

The promise of a fruitful early summer also abounds...first the wild blackberries look like they're going to have a bumper crop in a month or so...

...and the berries in a box (giant hybrid variety) finally started growing and showing a few blooms, thanks to the expert mulching job and osmocote applied by Denise.  I think (hope) they just come in a little later than the natives.  It will be nice to pick a bunch of the thornless variety.

The other color was provided by Miss Aubrey.  She's hoping to meet Maggie this summer; I'm guessing they will become fast friends.

We had to get that girl out of her fashion mode and introduce her to what we are really into down here...I think we made a believer out of her!

We're going to try and knock out a mini crawfish boil next weekend; I don't know if I can talk her into picking up a crawfish, but I'll try.

In the meantime, it's been back to work.  Denise and I took advantage of a dry spell to hook up the Gray Ghost to the forest of stumps left by Denises clearing binge a little earlier this year.  Between the mighty diesel and my Paul Bunyon impersonation, we got them out of the ground...but not without getting all sweaty.  Gotta love that SWLA humidity!

Well, we'll do a little more work and see what can be accomplished before it gets too darned hot.

I'll finish up with the critter cam...nothing too exciting, though.  Our resident doves -

and the Easter Bunny getting ready for the big day -

and the sly fox has resumed his (her?) visits -

While the lazy coon sets up camp under the feeder waiting for it to spin out some afternoon golden goodness -

And Roux periodically tries to protect us from the wild hordes...

Y'all come back now, hear?
